The Freckles Project

I started The Freckles project in May of 2013, after seeing a post on Facebook from one of my good friends (for the original post, go here:  My friend’s daughter is covered from head to toe in gorgeous freckles, and one day, in Target, another little girl said loudly enough for everyone to hear, “Mom, what’s wrong with that girl’s face?”  My friend reassured her daughter that nothing was wrong with her face, that in fact, everything about her face was beautiful — and then she posted the story on Facebook, saying, “Click Like if you love Freckles” along with a picture of her daughter.  So, it got me thinking about her freckles, my freckles, my daughter’s freckles, and how much I LOVE FRECKLES, and thus began the Freckles Project.  Now, my plan has always been to have this be an ongoing creative project, but sadly, as life and work got busier, I haven’t kept up with the project.  The first few posts of the project can be seen here on my blog, and I still intend to get back to it, so for those of you who are interested, just send me an email, and I’ll add you to my project.

By the way, I had received literally hundreds of Facebook likes and many wonderful comments about the project, but when I migrated my blog to a new host, I lost all of your beautiful words about the project.  My apologies for my tech-ineptitude.  The original post (found here:, which so many people loved (even though the writing itself was quite choppy) now sits with no lovely little comments from all of the amazing people who reached out to talk about Freckles.  One of my favorite comments came from a young woman in England, and can be found here:  As I said, I do hope to get this project going again in the future. It was one of the best feelings in the world to connect with so many folks about such a the beauty and individuality of us freckle-faced folks.
